Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

What’s the first step in working with you?

We start with an initial phone conversation that is free of charge. I will answer any questions you have about the therapy process, or my practice in particular. That said, the very best way to know what it would be like to work with me is to actually meet, so you can get a feel for me. This is so important because the best therapeutic outcomes come from a solid, positive relationship with your therapist. That doesn’t mean you should always love everything your therapist says, but it does mean that there should be a positive core to the therapy relationship, even when the work gets hard.

What can I expect during a session with you?

In our first session together, I will get to know you and your story. You’ll help me understand how you think about things and what your life has been like.

During this time I will learn how to talk to you, and consider what kind of feedback is helpful for you. Ultimately, the session will be a conversation about you, but you will also get a real good sense of who I am.

What outcomes can I anticipate from the sessions?

You can expect to leave with new and interesting ideas about yourself, including things we will continue to focus on over time. You’ll notice ideas develop over time and new ways to think about problems or roadblocks. We’ll explore whether the life you are living is satisfying, and in what ways it does or does not feel authentic to you. I will keep outcomes in mind, and check-in with you if I think the work is not progressing. I invite feedback from you about how the sessions are going at any time.

How long are the sessions?

I meet with people one or more times a week, depending on our approach. Sessions are 50 minutes in length. Longer sessions can sometimes be arranged.

What is the cost per session?

Individual sessions are 250
Couples sessions are 275
Every other week is 325
Sliding scale sessions make up 30% of my practice hours. Currently these spots are all full.

Payments

Payments can be made by credit card or e-transfer within 24 hours of your session. Long-term patients have the option to pay monthly after discussion and assessment.

Cancellation Policy

I require 48-hour notice for canceling a session. If notice is not provided within this time frame, you will be responsible for the full session fee. I understand things come up, and I always endeavor to work with you to see if we can reschedule your missed session. If we are unable to reschedule the hour within two weeks, there is no charge for the makeup session.
